UCP Communicator 1.1.2

The UCP Communicator is a professional application integrated within the Lockheed Martin Universal Communications Platform (UCP), designed to facilitate seamless communication between users via personal mobile devices. By connecting to a UCP Gateway server, the application enables users to communicate in a manner analogous to two-way radio operation, thereby enhancing operational flexibility.

Additionally, UCP Communicator allows for interoperability with traditional two-way radio systems when connected through a compatible PTT server and radio infrastructure. This integration supports a unified communication environment, which can be critical in mission-critical scenarios.

The application transmits data over internet protocols through cellular data or WiFi, interfacing with the UCP Gateway server, which itself connects to the Land Mobile Radio (LMR) network. Once the data leaves the PTT server, the LMR IT infrastructure perceives the communication similarly to standard radio transmissions. Notably, in trunking configurations, site controllers are unable to differentiate between transmissions originating from conventional radios and those from devices running UCP Communicator via the Gateway Server. This capability allows LMR administrators to assign identifiers to mobile devices in a manner consistent with radio identification practices.

UCP Communicator supports P25 standards and offers functionalities equivalent to those of a conventional P25 two-way radio, ensuring compatibility within existing radio ecosystems.

Through its combination with the UCP Gateway server, the application provides significant operational flexibility and extends radio communication and interoperability capabilities to multiple users without necessitating additional physical radio equipment.

It is important to note that UCP Communicator operates exclusively in conjunction with a UCP Gateway server; installation and use require access to such infrastructure.
